Last summer I jumped fully on board with the elastic-waist shorts and I don’t know if I can ever go back! Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of regular jean shorts, but when it comes to cute + casual + comfortable shorts for running around with the kids all summer, nothing beats shorts with an elastic waist.
Most summer days I can be found wearing a pair of these shorts with a basic t-shirt or tank top and my favorite Rothy’s Flip Flops. It’s such an easy and practical mom uniform!
I’ve been on the hunt for the best elastic-waist shorts for a couple years now and I have rounded up some of my favorites in various styles and colors for you to try.
Universal Favorite :: Madewell Pull-On Shorts
I’ve had these for two summers now and I LOVE them. They look nice and cute enough to wear to a barbecue or lunch with friends but are comfy enough to throw on with sneakers and a t-shirt for a walk to the park with the kids.
Sporty-Meets-Cute: Madewell MWL Always Pull-On Shorts
These feel a little bit like workout shorts with their poly-material and elastic waistband with lettering on it. They are incredibly comfortable and very flattering (fit TTS) ad I can see myself wearing them all summer long for both times I think I may break a sweat and a morning coffee run with the kids. They fit TTS.
Slightly Longer Pull-On Shorts: J. Crew Seaside Linen-Blend Shorts
I think these are a tad dressier and they are a bit longer, too, for those that don’t care for a short-short. I got them in both white and chambray and am excited to wear them this summer! They fit TTS.
Sweat-Proof Option: American Eagle Nylon On The Go Short
Similar to the Madewell pair I shared above, these are sort of a hybrid between a workout short and a cute casual short you can wear with a t-shirt and flip flops. They are super comfy and not overly short. Fit TTS.
