If you’ve been in my house, most of my home is washed in white paint. I love the fresh look and feel of white, but lately I’ve been craving a little bit of something moodier and darker in our home. Our master bedroom has been something that I’ve wanted to refresh for a while now, and over the last few weeks I’ve been slowly working to make things over.
I started with some inspiration from the photos below, which were a jumping-off point for me when deciding which direction to go with our master bedroom. (The before photo of our bedroom is above!)
I made an effort to try to keep this project budget-friendly. We kept our existing bed frame, our existing duvet cover, and our existing dressers and picture frames. I found that swapping some smaller things – such as the paint color on the walls, the pillows on the bed, the sheets on the bed and the stool at the foot of the bed was an affordable way to make the room look very different without spending a large amount on this makeover.
So, here’s the “after!” We are still searching for the perfect rug, but I think that may take a little bit of time.
Here’s the price breakdown on this makeover…
Rug: $400
Lamps: $200
Paint: $75
Sheets: $30
Side Tables: $200
Bench: $175
TOTAL: $1,080
