The weather has been SO cold in my neck of the woods (and in most parts of the country, honestly!) which means I’ve been switching up my skincare a bit in order to compensate. My skin is naturally dry and cold winter weather doesn’t help.
Here is my current winter skincare line-up and how I’m incorporating each product into my routine.
Note: I know it might seem like a lot of products/steps but the layering it really where the magic happens in the winter. You’re going for the “glazed donut look” before bed to give your skin all the moisture it needs to look and feel its best during the winter.
Bonus: If you don’t currently run a humidifier in your home during the winter months it’s worth looking into both for skin health and immunity. We found our house runs SO dry this time of year and have been pleased at the benefits both to our skin and overall health since adding in a humidifier. THIS is the one we have!
WINTER SKINCARE GUIDE
Cleanse with Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil
This is my go-to cleanser year round but especially a favorite in the winter! It doesn’t strip the skin of moisture while still getting the skin squeaky clean and removing makeup well.
Prep with Countermatch Hydra Gel Radiance Toner
This is my winter fave. It’s SO gentle and hydrating. Feels like a big old drink for my skin in the chilly months!
Treat with Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum
This serum is my anti-aging favorite for treating fine lines and wrinkles while helping prevent future wrinkles as they arise.
Hydrate/Protect with Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream
This is a forever favorite. It’s good for so many skin types – providing hydration and moisture without being “too much” for some skin types. Sometimes heavier moisturizers can be a little bit too heavy, if you know what I’m saying. But this one is just right.
Layer on…. Brightening Facial Oil
This brightening oil is both hydrating and brightening to the skin. I love layering it on at night before bed to let it really soak in.
DAYTIME WINTER SKINCARE TWEAKS
I do pretty much this same routine in the daytime except that I swap out the Recovery Sleeping Cream for the Adaptive Moisture Lotion for a more lightweight yet hydrating option and use the All Bright C Serum as my serum step during the daytime for added brightening and skin protection during the day.
OTHER ADD ONS
Typically I find I have to exfoliate a bit more to combat the winter dullness. I use the AHA Mask (just 10 minutes!) once a week to help exfoliate my skin and help my products work more effectively. I also love using the Overnight Resurfacing Peel once a week at night. If you’re dealing with a lot of dryness/flakiness and dullness be sure you’re adequately exfoliating.
