Salted Caramel Ice Cream
I have a handful of cold posts lined up for the week ahead, so I’m deeming this 4th of July week “Ice Cream Week” on Espresso and Cream! Posting will look a little different around here this week, but normal posting (like No Fat Talk Tuesday) will resume next week. But first, a little weekend recap… Joe and I packed up our bags and headed to Illinois last weekend to spend some time with Amber and Jake and our adorable … Read More
Strawberry Glaze Pie
As a baby, I was pretty spoiled. Not that I remember it, but my mom made all my baby food at home and introduced me to a bunch of different fresh and healthy foods. She tells one story about the amazing amount of fresh grouper I could eat in a single sitting, hardly leaving any for her to eat. But somewhere along the line I became a picky eater. As a kid, sandwiches from Subway where strictly turkey and cheese … Read More
Pasta Salad with Peas and Spinach Pesto
Last weekend Joe and I had our friends Mike and Krista, and their adorable baby girl Ella, over for dinner. Too many times in the past, I’ve gotten in the bad habit of going all out when making a meal for friends, spending way more money than I had intended and busting our budget. But lately, I’ve been trying to keep a better eye on what I spend when we entertain and try to come up with creative ways to … Read More
Resources for Positive Body Image
After sharing my body confidence story last week, I got a lot of e-mails and questions asking about resources to aid in building body confidence. I thought that for today’s No Fat Talk Tuesday, I would put together a list of some of my favorite sites and books, both old and new, that are doing great work in supporting women and promoting self confidence in the right way. Leave a comment below if you have any other suggestions for people … Read More
Shorts and Stripes
{Shorts: Banana Republic Outlet; Sandals: J. Crew; Bracelet: Banana Republic Outlet; Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft} Somewhere along the lines in the last couple years, I’ve grown to stop hating shorts and, dare I say, actually enjoy wearing them. I’m not sure when the shift happened, but I’m going with it. Though I’m still not sure shorts are the most flattering choice, they’re just so darn practical at times that it’s hard to avoid wearing them all together. Though I certainly … Read More
What $100 in Groceries Looks Like
As I mentioned this spring, I came to realize quite quickly that coupon clipping is not for me. Well, at east not in the extreme sense. I don’t mind clipping the occasional coupon in the Sunday paper, but I’m not going to spend hours scouring the internet for the best deals on everything I buy each week. I just do not have the time, my friends. But I have been having quite a bit of success with comparison shopping the … Read More
Lightened-Up Strawberry Waffles
If, like me, you have a few extra strawberries in your fridge that are just a bit too ripe for eating plain, may I suggest you put them to use in your breakfast? Joe and I have plans to enjoy these whole wheat strawberry waffles this weekend. The recipe was adapted from this Eating Well recipe, and I think you’ll find they are the perfect mix of decadent and wholesome. Happy Friday! Madison
Double Peanut Butter Cups
If you know one thing about my eating habits, it’s probably the fact that I’m a die-hard peanut butter lover. Honestly, I’m slightly embarrassed to admit how much peanut butter I eat each day. Almost every morning I have at least 2 tablespoons of creamy natural peanut butter (only salt and peanuts, please!) in my oatmeal and there’s usually another tablespoon consumed throughout the day, alongside apples or atop some Greek yogurt. So I guess it’s not really a surprise … Read More
Paging the 1950’s
{Skirt: Banana Republic Outlet; Top: Banana Republic Outlet; Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction (last year)} First of all, thank you so much for your kind words about yesterday’s No Fat Talk Tuesday post. I was SO encouraged and uplifted by the great dialogue and the comments that you all shared. You are all so truly amazing and inspiring in your own right. Now, let’s lighten things up, shall we? My mom spent this past weekend with us, and we used part … Read More
No Fat Talk Tuesday: My Story
I know it’s not quite yet Tuesday, but I’m a bit anxious and nervous to share this post, so I’m posting early, if that makes any sense. I’ve been trying to find the right words for quite some time, struggling on where to start and how to share my No Fat Talk story in a way that’s both raw and uplifting. Other than my mom, Joe and a small handful of friends, I’ve kept my story to myself. Not because … Read More
Balsamic Barbecue Chicken
I’ve got a little confession: I’m a terrible gift giver. You see, I take a lot of pride in selecting the prefect gift for the occasion and person that once I buy it I struggle to keep it a secret for long. My family knows this all too well and now my husband does, too. Since we live in an apartment and have no outdoor living space, we’ve been using a very small mini-grill for all our outdoor cooking. It … Read More
